About me
I was born in the Great State of Texas, but Mom and Dad high-tailed it back to the northeast six-months after I was born – something about civil rights marches and local disagreements thereabouts. I was raised in Rhode Island, with a few brief stays elsewhere, went to Boston University on an NROTC scholarship, discovered the Marine Corps, and the rest (as they say) is history. Got married young, raised 4 lovely daughters, spent a few careers – and a marriage – traveling the world… and trying to save it from itself. Gave that up (finally) because the World doesn’t want saving. My current home is with my lovely bride Ashley, the two little people – not Peter Dinklage and Verne Troyer (RIP) – and our menagerie of pets in the Sonoran desert.
Practicing law, piano, my wrist shot, and how to open my heart – even to stupid people with whom I disagree philosophically. It’s a full-time endeavor. Also perpetually at work on the next great American novel.
Yes, I double-checked this quote: Orwell actually wrote it. It’s from the ‘Preface’ to Animal Farm.
While I’m quoting him, I should note that Orwell also had this bit of wisdom about the human condition (from 1984):
“If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face—for ever.”
